FAQs

FAQs

IS A HEAD RACK THE SAME THING AS A HEADACHE RACK?

Yes – Think of the HEAD RACK as an upscale headache rack.

WILL A TONNEAU COVER FIT WITH MY HEAD RACK?

Yes – It is designed specifically to fit a Truxedo and Access soft tonneau cover. And will fit most other inside the rail watertight covers.

Roll top tonneau’s will fit with a little custom trimming at the mount bracket.

Most competitor racks don’t fit with a tonneau cover or you have to buy an ugly expensive bracket.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO INSTALL A HEAD RACK?

1\2 an hour with practice, and 1 hour without practice.

DO I HAVE TO DRILL?

No Drilling- all models are designed to BOLT onto the truck without drilling, with the exception of the Canyon, Colorado and Dakota which do not have stake pocket holes.

 HOW STRONG IS IT?

Very Strong - because the mounting bracket is designed to bolt and compress to the box.

Some competitor models have a hook system in the box pocket that will rip the metal under impact.

DOES IT LOOK GOOD?

YES! -     A different pattern shaped for each truck model makes the HEAD RACK look like it belongs  on the truck.   Most competitor models are all the same. (one model fits all look)

DOES IT PROTECT MY BACK WINDOW?

Yes! -       Head rack is designed to follow the window line of each truck model, because this is the weakest part of the window.

Most competitor models don’t follow the window line or protect as well

WILL BOLTING THE RACK TO MY TRUCK HURT MY PAINT?

NO -   The base plate has a thin neoprene pad on the bottom to protect the paint.

Other competitors just put the metal rack against the factory paint.

CAN I CARRY A LADDER, CANOE OR KAYAK WITH JUST THE FRONT HEAD RACK?

YES -     Leave the tail gate up and put a foam pad on the tail gate and top Head Rack bar then lean the front of the kayak on the tailgate, then lift the back of the kayak up and push it forward and up onto and past the top bar of the   Head Rack leaving a little hanging over forward of the head rack and a little behind the tailgate.

Strap the front to the Head Rack and the rear to the box.
